Waking Up Excited For The Day

Watermelon SmileThe joy of waking up excited for the day ahead is amazing.

For pretty much my whole life I think this has been the case for me.

Okay, there were times in school when I wasn’t really that excited. But even though I didn’t like school I could usually find something to look forward to each and every day.

In college, for example, we were required to take 8 credits of science courses. Science was my least favorite. So on the mornings when I had a science class, I wasn’t excited. But usually I looked forward to other things like walking to classes with friends or eating lunch with friends or an evening event on campus.

These days I watch my two-year old daughter wake up for the day. She almost always has a smile on her face. Everything is so new for her that she can barely wait to get out of her crib to start playing, learning and consuming the world around her.

Now, I’m not saying that waking up is easy. It’s not.

But I do think that waking up feeling down or drowsy or whatever is a sign that something is wrong.

It could be physical. Something with your body that makes you feel drowsy or lethargic.

Or maybe your work or daily routine isn’t helping you feel fulfillment.

Or you might have too many things in your routine and you’re not getting enough rest.

Another reason could be that the people you surround yourself with are bringing negativity to your life. Even someone close to you that you love.

Whatever the situation, recognize the sign. Confront the issues with the focus of what you control in the situations.

Even the path of working toward a solution can lead to more excitement in the mornings.

Waking up excited is a positive sign that things are going well. If you’re not feeling it, it’s time to start reflecting on what is going wrong.
