Don’t Bite Off Less Than You Can Chew

Strawberry BiteLife is one big contradiction.

In one sense, we often bite off more than we can chew. More house. More car. More little tasks to keep us busy and in a rush all the time.

In those instances, it’s good to take a little off your plate. If you take on too much you’re going to accomplish little, be good at little and feel very little and unaccomplished.

However, on the other side of things is the idea that you’re not taking a big enough bite…

The idea here is that most people limit themselves on what they can accomplish in life. We stay at the same job for a long time. We don’t look to move up the ladder. We don’t try to improve at a hobby. We like the comfort of the way things are.

Very few people are able to push themselves. It’s not a natural state. As early humans, it was imperative to limit yourself. The more comfortable you stayed the better off you generally were. Don’t venture too far from the cave because some wild beast may be around the corner to kill you.

Today, there really aren’t any beasts that will kill you. There is no reason to limit yourself.

What’s the worst that can happen if you try something new? You fail? You embarrass yourself?

Who cares. Certainly nobody else cares. That’s one of life’s little secrets…

People don’t care about you.

And that’s a good thing. They don’t care if you succeed or fail. It’s up to you to decide if you want to succeed or fail.

So ask yourself what’s the worst that can happen. You’ll usually be able to live with it. And the reward on the other side is that you might get to experience the best thing that can happen.

The next time you’re presented with a choice that can possible help you grow beyond your comfort zone, bite off more than you think you can chew. You’re capable of so much more.
